A Windsor process server close to both courthouses
Most Windsor files end up in one of two downtown buildings. The Superior Court of Justice at 245 Windsor Ave. takes civil claims, Small Claims Court, enforcement and family cases, including every divorce: Windsor is not one of Ontario's 25 Family Court branch locations, so divorce and property cases stay with the Superior Court. The Ontario Court of Justice at 200 Chatham St. E. hears criminal cases and family matters other than divorce and property.
Counter hours, phone numbers and what can now be filed online are in our Windsor courthouse guide. If your file needs a document filed or a record pulled at the counter, that is our court filing and retrieval service. We deliver documents; we do not represent anyone in court.
Where the Windsor rate stops
The $140 rate covers addresses inside the City of Windsor. Windsor is not part of Essex County for local government, so LaSalle, Tecumseh and the other neighbours are on the county rates. The line is not always obvious: in 2003 the city annexed land from the Town of Tecumseh, and some street names carry on across the boundary. We go by the municipality the address is actually in and confirm the rate before anything starts.
Serving in a city of shift workers and border commuters
Windsor faces Detroit across the river, linked by the Ambassador Bridge, the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel and, since July 27, 2026, the Gordie Howe International Bridge. Plenty of recipients work early, late or rotating shifts, and some commute to Michigan, which is why the three included attempts are spread across different times of day rather than repeated at the same hour.
Apartment towers, student rentals near the University of Windsor and St. Clair College, and older houses split into units in Walkerville and Sandwich all come up. Give us the unit number, the buzzer name if you know it and anything about the building.
Windsor landlords: the LTB's N4 instructions say the notice cannot be given by posting it on the door, and Board hearings now run by Zoom or phone, so a clean record of how the notice was delivered matters. See N4 and LTB notice service. US law firms serving a Windsor resident can start with serving process in Canada for US attorneys.
